After reporting over half a million new jobs were added to the economy in October 2021, the Bureau of Labor’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover report for November 2021 reported an addition of a mere 210,000 jobs, the smallest amount added since December 2020.

Recruiter.com’s November Recruiter Index found that recruiter sentiment, how recruiters feel about the current job market, fell to 3.6, after reaching a record high last month at 3.9. Recruiter sentiment has been steadily increasing since November 2020, where it sat at 3.3.

Recruiter’s also noted a shift in what candidates prioritize in a new position this month, with new experiences jumping from 15 percent in October to 20 percent in November. Only a quarter of employees value compensation, followed by 23 percent of job seekers prioritizing remote work and work/life balance.

Recruiter.com CEO used the term the Great Reevaluation on CNBC’s The Exchange to explain where the difficulty may be stemming from in the current job market. “We think companies and employees are really reevaluating when they want to go back, how they want to go back, how should they get paid,” he said.

“It’s making the recruiter’s job even more difficult and that’s why we saw recruiter sentiment down out of five,” Sohn continued.
